Our goal for this week is to continue getting our name out there on the World Wide Web and finally start bringing in some serious traffic to ‘Journey To A Million’. Sure, it's not going to happen over night but as everyone knows, you’re not going to get rich over night either! Our first step is to get ourselves acquainted with the ever so popular search engine Google.

After doing some research, it seems a lot of search engine optimization sites actually say not to simply add your site manually to the Google site database, as it can take months to get added to their index. There is one way however, to speed up this process. Google will only add your site to their index if they feel that your site has a bountiful accumulation of information. Then comes the question, how does Google decide this? Links. Basically, if Google sees that your site is being linked to by other known sites, that must mean that your site is worthy among the people, and so, Google then quickens the process and adds you to their index.

Now, how can you get other websites to link to your site? I suppose you could go and e-mail the webmasters of different sites and ask them to put a link to your website on theirs, but that can take forever and there is no guarantee that they will be interested in this. Some of you may have noticed that we have added an RSS (Real Simple Syndication) Feeds section to our page; this is going to be our ticket to getting our website URL onto blog/RSS directories. For those who don’t know what an RSS Feed is, it’s essentially a ‘live bookmark’, meaning that if you would add our RSS feed to your bookmarks or RSS client, it would automatically update you with new stories that we post, whenever we do it. Our updates are brought directly to you, without you having to constantly check back on our site (but we encourage you to do so anyways!). Now that we're on the topic of RSS, why not add our feed and try it out! If you’re using the Mozilla Firefox browser, the RSS icon should be in the top right of your address bar.

Click that orange icon!

Just hover over the icon and give it a simple click! Add it to your bookmarks and voila, your first RSS Feed bookmark. Now whenever we add a story to the front page, your bookmark will update automatically. You can track other sections as well, such as forum sections. Oh yeah, and if you’re not using Mozilla Firefox, I strongly urge you to change over and try it out. I promise you won’t go back! You can get Firefox by clicking our link in the “Go Firefox!” section to the left, under the RSS Feeds section.

So Tim and I have been adding our RSS feed relentlessly to blog/RSS sites to get our name out there. So far, it seems to have worked, as we got ourselves indexed on the Yahoo! site directory. From what I’ve read, Google and Yahoo are in some sort of terms of agreement where for all the sites which Yahoo! indexes, Google will take and add them to their index, and vice versa. I’m not 100% sure if this is true, but let us know if you know of any information regarding this through a comment or even a post on the forums.

We will also be putting up all the sites that we added our feed to so that you can all benefit from adding your sites as well!

Hey everyone!

Well if you’ve stumbled upon this site up to now, you probably either know us or are extremely lucky. Right now we are in the process of spreading our name through search engines and blog listings alike. It should be another week or so before people start finding this site. We’ll write a post later on about what our experiences with SEO (search engine optimization) and other methods of publicising.

Now to the point; we need to actually make some money. Where to start? You’ll notice that there are some Google Ads (see right sidebar) as well as a few other goodies. Well, here is a tried and tested way to monetize your website; it means exactly what it sounds like. However, this is the easiest part of the web profiting process. Google has provided us with really good services so far; their ads are quite informative and they should provide you with some interesting money making opportunities. Google also has a lot of tips for webmasters. You can find some good information here. This is a bit “techy” and maybe hard to understand for those of you with limited tech knowledge but over the next while, we’ll do some step by step explaining of important tools found here.

By the way, the title of the post actually does mean something; we have made our first dollar through Google Ads! (We’ll chalk it on the board when we get a cheque) Now, to do that a million times, and we’ll be set! This is just the beginning…

How to make a million dollars...

This question has been on my mind for a few weeks and I have come up with some speculations about the best ways of making money.

First way to get rich: having a lot of money. It’s true; people who already have a lot of money will find it much easier to make more than someone who has little or none. This is because investing is key. This isn’t only talking stock markets and banks etc. If you can OWN things that generate revenue on a consistent basis, you’re in the money! For example, if you owned the rights to a song, every time someone buys that song, you make money. The opposite of this theory, is a contract. Once you complete something for a client, you are paid… but your client may be making much more money from what work you’ve accomplished.

IDEA #1: Owning the rights to revenue generating items is a huge plus.

So we are going to try and work on many different things, mostly dealing with the internet, so we can receive money from multiple sources.

And on that note, there’s a new project in the works listed in the current projects section.

Hey everyone, welcome to JourneyToAMillion.com!

My name is Tim, and along with my friend Chris, we are on a journey to earn 1 Million Dollars as fast as we can.

Sure sounds tough right, well we are absolutely confident that this can be done, and we want to prove it to you that you can do it as well! Over the course of this journey, we will be telling you about all our experiences; what works, and what doesn’t. We’ll keep you posted on our progress, and there will be lots of other little surprises along the road.

First though, we figure we’d give you a little background on us, and how this journey began.

Chris and I are both graduates from a CEGEP in Quebec, Canada. We earned 3-year Technical DECs in Computer Science. If you don’t know what that is, think of it as an add-on to a high-school diploma, kind of useless anywhere but here. This does however, let us go to university in Quebec (since grade 12 doesn’t exist, CEGEP is mandatory for university here.)

So now we are in University, but to be honest… It sucks. We’re facing another 3 years of boring, useless schooling to eventually join the work force coding stuff for big companies. This outcome scares the hell out of us. We don’t want to wake up hating our jobs, working our asses off to remain current in a domain where if you miss a step, you’re light-years behind.

So screw them!

We’ve picked up some tricks so far and you know what, it’s time we use them! Time to make our own living, where we are the bosses and we are free to work and play how and when we want.

Of course by now you are probably thinking “How are a couple of slackers going to make a million dollars??”

Well, have a little faith and you’ll see we are dead serious about this. This journey isn’t built on wishes and dreams, we know we have the ingenuity and dedication to make it, and we’re going to work as hard as we can to do it. Of course now, we have loads of school work pilled on, but if we can jumpstart this business, we can achieve our first goal; getting the hell out of university.

We have about 10 weeks to get enough income to have a reason to drop out. The journey begins now!
